Cultivating the Character of Home

As it has for many years, MILIEU is proud to be the national sponsor of the Keynote address for the 35th annual Antiques & Garden Show of Nashville, taking place at the Music City Center (January 31–February 2).

The Keynote Lecture sets the stage for all of the many exciting forthcoming events at the Show, and this year it involves a spirited conversation moderated by India Hicks with Brooke Shields, the celebrated actress, model, author, entrepreneur, and design enthusiast, and David Flint Wood, the noted British designer, with whom Shields has long collaborated.

While it’s still too early to recognize the arrival of spring, the show does celebrate all things natural as the floor of the arena is anchored by three garden showcases by leading landscape designers—Anne Daigh, Josiah Lockhard, Peter Grimaldi, and Mary Weber. In addition, the Nashville Preservation Society has created custom-built garden follies at the entry to the Show.

Some 15,000 attendees are expected, with more than 150 antiques, art, and horticultural dealers displaying their wares at the show, whose theme this year is “Cultivating Home: Life Well Tended.” Bunny Williams and her longtime business partner, Elizabeth Lawrence, are once again celebrated as Honorary Co-chairs. Proceeds from the event will benefit Cheekwood Estate & Gardens and the Economic Club of Nashville.

“This event always feels as welcoming as being in your own home,” says Pamela Pierce, Founder and Editor of Chief of MILIEU. “We support the Show’s causes and its celebration of the importance of the home in all of our lives.”
