Florals will forever rule spring, and polka dots may be having a moment, but when it comes to the pattern of the season, gingham is the clear winner.
A summer staple, gingham is both nostalgic and refined. From Dorothy’s iconic dress in The Wizard of Oz to a settee upholstered in a crisp check, it manages to be playful yet polished. It brings to mind red-and-white picnic blankets, breezy sundresses, and childhood summers – yet somehow, it never feels outdated.
This tried-and-true motif has been a favorite at MILIEU for years. Whether in window treatments, upholstery, or bedding, gingham has proven it can be both quaint and elevated when used with intention.
In celebration of its enduring charm, we’re revisiting some of our favorite Gingham Moments from the pages of MILIEU. These interiors prove that checks bring a sense of summer whimsy — all while offering timeless appeal.
