When Rose Tarlow opened as R. Tarlow Antiques in 1976, her reputation for understanding what constituted quality in design became evident and has continued to build over the decades. In the mid 1980’s R. Tarlow Antiques became Rose Tarlow Melrose House and Rose began to reimagine period designs with her own singular vision. She believes that every piece must have its own personality. With a respectful perspective she may reinterpret an antique piece by playing with proportions, changing woods, and perfecting finishes. By taking elements from an original piece such as an unusual curve of a leg, patina or modifying a pieces’ scale she creates a completely unique translation.
