Samuel & Sons has been making fine trims for more than three-quarters of a century. While the family proudly acknowledges its long legacy and its anthology of patterns, it also continues to move forward with new products.
One of the biggest secrets of interior design is its smallest details—trim and piping. The trim and piping that accent furnishings can do as much to define a room as the very furniture and accessories themselves. What might appear to be the finishing touch is often one of the main decorative elements. To accentuate the versatility of these accents and their dramatic effects in your home, Samuel & Sons has debuted two new collections—The Julienne and The Cavalleria Collections. Recently, the firm shared these with us at MILIEU and we’re now thrilled to share them with you.
The Julienne Collection
Piping is a subtle technique for transforming furnishings. Perfectly timed for the arrival of spring and summer, the bright and colorful Julienne Collection is composed of a variety of finely woven cotton piping and double welting in some 156 colors, along with multiple metallics and two-tone double weltings.

If you do the math, these many options mean that there are some 300 possibilities to choose from. An innovative construction technique allows for the piping to assume a crisper edge as it follows turns and corners on your furnishings and accessories.

Items in the Julienne Collection come available in solid colors, two-tones, and metallic variations. Color options include a pure white Chalk, as well as more nuanced tones such as Opal and Sandstone, while Ice Blue, Snapdragon, Honeydew, and Periwinkle suggest the vibrant range of the palette.

The Cavalleria Collection
This highly innovative new line of trim incorporates embroidery, nail heads, and micro-studs on strié linen and vegan leather borders.

The fifteen styles in the new collection range from traditional to thoroughly modern, and each is defined by a distinctive application of nail heads or micro-studs. Plus, the new vegan leather offers an eco-friendly, yet stylish, alternative to conventional leather.

The featured trims in the Cavalleria Collection can be applied to walls, used on upholstery and draperies, as well as a variety of soft furnishings.

When conceiving the collection, the Samuel & Sons design team embraced the aesthetic for which the venerable company has long been known—adopting a classical design motif, such as the Greek Key, and reinterpreting it for use in today’s homes.
